This is where Texans on Mission Disaster Relief training begins. Orientation includes an introduction and overview of TXM Disaster Relief ministries, including the mission statement, history and brief overview of additional ministry opportunities within Texans on Mission. Orientation is required for all disaster relief volunteers and is required for renewal of credentials.
TXM Disaster Relief Orientation is a prerequisite for all other specialty training, including Basic Chainsaw, offered on Saturday in Brownwood. Credentials obtained through orientation are required for entry into disaster areas and are valid for five years.
Orientation or recertification is a two-step process. First, register for the chainsaw class below. Second, complete the required background check by clicking here.
When tornadoes, wind storms and hurricanes strike, they topple trees and break limbs throughout an area. That damage can cost homeowners thousands of dollars to remove. Limbs often prevent people from moving their vehicles or entering their homes, creating large barriers to people's recovery.
This training teaches basic skills for safely operating chainsaws while helping survivors after a disaster. Basic tree felling and bucking techniques will also be reviewed/introduced. This is a full-day course with classroom training followed by hands-on training with a chainsaw.
