In response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, Texans On Mission is set to deploy a specialized task force to support local partners on the ground. The team will work directly with regional church leaders to assess immediate needs, develop structured recovery plans and implement actionable strategies for long-term community resilience.
“Our mission is to walk alongside local leaders who know their communities best,” said Rand Jenkins, TXM chief strategy officer. “We’re here to resource, empower and amplify the work already being done by faithful leaders in the impacted area.”
The initial deployment includes disaster response coordinators, logistics specialists and community organizers trained in recovery and faith-based volunteer mobilization. The team will prioritize communication, workflow and standard operating processes that TXM has developed through its history of disaster response work.
Additional volunteers may be mobilized as needs are assessed in collaboration with local partners. TXM is accepting financial donations to support local procurement of supplies, transportation and community-based programming. A more complete assessment will begin the moment waters recede.
“We believe the local church is the most powerful force for healing and restoration in any disaster zone,” Jenkins added. “Our role is to help them lead — with clarity, capacity and confidence.”
