A rash of wildfires have broken out across Oklahoma, ravaging more than 100,000 acres and 400 homes.

In the Stillwater area, Texans on Mission "fire recovery teams are working daily to address the needs of 140 homes that have requested their assistance," said Mickey Lenamon, TXM chief executive officer in an email to supporters.

"Volunteers are suiting up in protective suits and working with ash to help people recover personal belongings and take the first steps forward in recovery. On the first day, teams found jewelry that had been passed down as well as a sabre a son had from the Air Force.

"Fires are devastating," Lenamon continued. "People simply feel defeated, knowing the rebuilding journey will take them years. In this midst of this pain, TXM volunteers are walking alongside them, lifting them up and helping them push forward."
