Texans on Mission chaplains are in Kerrville ministering to families in the aftermath of the tragic Guadalupe River flooding, and TXM Disaster Relief units will deploy beginning Monday.
"Our hearts are broken by this tragedy, and I'm so thankful we have Texans on Mission chaplains in Kerrville to respond quickly to survivors and families of victims," said John Hall, TXM chief mission officer. "There are limits on what we can share publicly right now, but our chaplains and other volunteers need our prayers and support."
People are eager to help, Hall said, but many roads are still closed and unsafe due to flooding. He said there are three ways people can help right now — pray, give online at texansonmission.org/hillcountry to support TXM relief efforts and visit texansonmission.org/serve to join TXM volunteer efforts.
"We will post available opportunities as they become available," he noted.
David Wells, TXM disaster relief director, announced plans for volunteer teams to deploy. Incident management, shower/laundry, feeding, electronic and electrical support, and asset protection teams plan to deploy Monday afternoon. Flood recovery teams will be on the scene sometime soon afterward.
