Texans on Mission was recently awarded a $750,000 grant from the American Red Cross to continue rebuilding homes and serving families affected by flooding in the Texas Hill Country over the next year.
The American Red Cross invited TXM to apply for the grant after recognizing the organization's reputation and long-standing work in disaster relief and rebuilding.
"We're proud to partner with Texans on Mission to help communities recover from the 2025 Texas floods," said Naomi Pease, Senior Director of Long-Term Recovery for the American Red Cross. "Recovery is a long road, and a year later, helping families rebuild and return home is one of the most meaningful milestones along that journey."
The grant will support home repairs and rebuilding projects, provide transitional housing for displaced residents and address the effects of disaster-caused trauma in communities affected by the flooding.
"This kind of grant doesn't happen overnight — it's a testament to how far we've come as an organization, to our staff and volunteers and to the people who lead our rebuild program," said Ryan Lenamon, TXM’s Chief Development Officer. "We're just getting started."
TXM volunteers have earned a reputation as some of the first to show up and the last to leave after disasters, continuing work long after emergency response efforts have ended to help families return home.
"With this grant, we will continue to uphold our mission of bringing help, hope and healing to survivors," Lenamon said. "This mission is bigger than all of us. We want to continue to reach more families, and to do that, we need partners, volunteers and funds to match that mission."
TXM Rebuild Coordinator Rafael Munoz said the funding will help address ongoing recovery efforts.
“We know of families in the Hill Country with unmet needs, and we're working in partnership with The American Red Cross to care for them,” Munoz said. “There are families that didn't get assistance sooner but are asking for help. We are answering that call, even now.”
Lenamon expressed gratitude for the partnership and the confidence the Red Cross has placed in TXM.
"Thank you to the Red Cross for believing in us and to the people who help us carry out this work," he said.
